TOWNS

Yuba County was created at the time California became a State in 1850. The county's name is attributed to Captain John Sutter [1803-1880] who was known throughout California for various businesses he established to capitalize on the Gold Rush. The name honors a local Indian village (Yubu/Juba) which was sited near the confluence of the Feather and Yuba rivers.
