TOWNS

The Muhlenberg County Courthouse is located at 100 South Main Street, Greenville, KY 42345; phone: 270-338-1441.

The county, founded in 1798, is named for General John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg [1746-1807], a Lutheran minister of Virginia who left his pulpit at the beginning of the Revolutionary War to become a military officer. Although General Muhlenberg made two trips to Kentucky in 1784, he never visited the section that bears his name. [1]
