The Harnett County Courthouse is located at 301 West Cornelius Harnett Boulevard, Lillington, NC 27546; phone: 910-814-4600.

Harnett County was created February 7th, 1855 from parts of Cumberland County. It was named for Cornelius Harnett [1723-1781], a leader in resistance to the Stamp Act. He was the first president of the North Carolina Provincial Council, effectively the chief executive of North Carolina during the Revolution, and a member of the Continental Congress from 1777-1779.
