The Jefferson County Courthouse is located at 202 West Main Street, Dandridge, TN 37725; phone: 865-397-4200.

Jefferson County was established in 1792 and was named for Thomas Jefferson who was serving as the first U. S. Secretary of State at the time. The county seat, Dandridge (located along the French Broad River), was named for Martha Dandridge Washington, the first U.S. First Lady.
