Brooksville, seat of Bracken County since 1832, centers about a small row of ships with hitching post porches, a larger row strung along a sidewalk several feet high, and a huge open space on which stands the yellow brick courthouse with its clock tower. The region about Brooksville, first known as Woodward's Crossroad, chiefly produces burley tobacco.
