Beginnings [1]
Bloomfield Township was organized in 1820. The first settlers came in 1819. The first recorded land purchase was to Colonel Benjamin H. Pierce, brother of Franklin Pierce who would become President of the United States. Colonel Pierce visited his land several times but never settled on it.
