Arlington as described in 1940 [1]
Arlington is at the junction of the north and south forks of the Stillaguamish River. In 1864, the first pioneer, Captain Daniel Marvin, anchored a scow on the north fork of the river to serve as his temporary home. Although it once ranked with the largest shingle manufacturing centers, Arlington now has only one mill and, like many other Washington towns, has turned to dairying, poultry-raising, truck gardening and fruit growing.
