TOWNS

Chambers County was established in 1832. The county seat, named Chambersville, was created with lots auctioned beginning in 1833. Profits from lot sales helped fund the construction of a courthouse and jail. The town's name was changed to LaFayette sometime prior to its incorporation in 1835.
