Cherry Hills was incorporated in 1945 for the main purpose of passing ordinances which would end plans by Denver to build an airport nearby whose flight path, due to the topography, would be only a few hundred above the town. Cherry Hills has one of the highest per-capita incomes in the country. The village is a rare place, where a home of 5,000 sq. ft. can be considered "modest."
Cherry Hills is home to 4 National Register Estate homes.
Foster-Buell Estate, 2700 East Hampden Avenue, circa 1920, N.R. listed 4/1/1998.
Little Estate, 1 Littleridge Lane, circa 1941, N.R. listed 5/29/1998.
Mayfield-Maitland Estate, 9 Sunset Drive, circa 1925, N.R. listed 9/3/1998.
