Highland Township was created in 1853 from part of West Fallowfield. Early inhabitants of the township included families named: Adams, Boggs, Boyd, Cochran, Cowpland, Futhey, Gibson, Glendenning, Hamill, Haslett, Parke and Wilson. [1]
