TOWNS

It is known that Francis Eason, from the present-day Roanoke, Virginia area, was one of the first to settle in Floyd County circa 1750. In the 1760s, other residents from that area followed. Most of these early settlers had British surnames. After the Revolutionary War, especially in the 1790s, many of German descent came to the area from Pennsylvania and Maryland. [1]
