Jamaica is a pleasant little post village located near the central part of the Town of Jamaica, on Bald Mountain Brook. In 1884 it had 2 churches, 1 hotel, several stores, several manufacturing establishments and about 100 dwellings. Among the professional men were 3 attorneys and 2 physicians. The West River National Bank and Jamaica Savings Bank were both located here. The Brattleboro & Whitehall Railroad passed nearby. [1]
