Sioux Center as described in 0000 [1]

Sioux Center, a farming community, has six co-operative societies with interlocking directorates. The largest is the Farmers Mutual Cooperative Creamery which, in 1935, made and sold almost 3,000,000 pounds of butter; the cream is gathered within a radius of 50 miles by 19 trucks. A cooperative burial association here owns a modern funeral home and has a large membership; this is one of the few co-operatives of this kind in the country. Only one member of a family, and no member of the family of an officer, is employed by a cooperative.
