Neighborhoods
First settled around 1700 by Dutch immigrants, Rosendale was incorporated in 1844.
A distinctive feature of the town's landscape is a chain of five small lakes known as Binnewater, numbered one through five, north to south. Directly south of the fifth lake, the community of Binnewater is centered around a former Wallkill Valley Railroad (Conrail) Depot. See the Binnewater Historic District for history of the area.
