Beginnings [1]

The area that would become Little Compton was first settled in 1674 by Captain Benjamin Church, then part of the Pettaquamscutt settlement incorporated under the name Kings Towne. Along with Warren, Bristol, Tiverton and Cumberland, Little Compton was made part of Rhode Island by Royal Decree in 1746.
