Neighborhoods

Incorporated in 1956, Southlake was first settled in the 1840s. Prior to incorporation, the land that would become the City contained the settlements of Whites Chapel, Dove, Jellico and Union Church. While the majority of the city is located in Tarrant County, a small portion lies in Denton County. Beginning with the construction of the Dallas-Fort Worth airport in the 1970s, Southlake became a residential boom town, expanding in through the early 2000s. By 2010 there was virtually no remaining land area to accommodate significant further growth.
