The Mason County Courthouse is located at 200 6th Street, Point Pleasant, WV 25550; phone: 304-675-6840.

Mason County was established in 1804 from Kanawha County. It was named for George Mason [1725-1792] of Fairfax County, Virginia. Mason authored the paper The Declaration of Rights. Most of the ideas were incorporated as part of the first 10 amendments to the U. S. Constitution (the Bill of Rights) in 1791.
