Hiltonia

Trenton City, Mercer County, NJ

Hiltonia is a residential neighborhood of 200-plus detached, single family homes, most of them built in the 1920s and 1930s.

A web search of Homes For Sale in Hiltonia (late October, 2006) turned up 7 properties with asking prices from 292.900 through 459,00. These single family homes ranged from 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 baths to 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths; lot sizes ranged from 0.2 to 0.4 acres. On a photo-taking walk (accompanying slide show) through the neighborhood the same day, while we did not count them, we clearly noted more than 7 homes with for sale signs in the front yards.

According to "The Hilltone" [1], Samuel Hilton bought land in 1923 and promptly subdivided it into lots, hired an architect (Walter Hankin) put in streets and sidewalks, sold lots, and by 1925 was building houses.

Interior living space ranges from approximately 1,500-3,000 sqft. with a median of approximately 2,000 sqft. Lot sizes range from one-tenth to two-fifths of an acre with a median of approximately one-fifth of an acre.

Hiltonia is bounded by Stuyvesant Avenue, Cadwalader Drive, Hilvista Boulevard, and Cornwall Avenue.
