The township was incorporated in 1991 from portions of Upper Penns Neck and Carneys Point townships. Spread over more than 20 acres, the townships western boundary is the Delaware RIver. K-12 public school students are served through the Oldmans Township school district. Exit #3 of the New Jersey Turnpike is found in the center portion of the township.
