Conewago [†] is a rural township located in northern York County. It is strategically located between the cities of Harrisburg and York and is an easy drive to the Metropolitan areas of Philadelphia, Washington and Baltimore. The regional influence of these major metropolitan areas on the development and services in the Township must be taken into consideration when reviewing growth and change. The rich, rolling farmlands in the east, the commercialized Susquehanna Trail corridor, and the mountainous region of the northwest present unique challenges as well as opportunities in future of the township.
Due to the convenience and location of Interstate 83, residents rely on York and Harrisburg for cultural, economic, and social functions that are not available in Conewago Township. The location of the Township makes it relatively easy to reach Philadelphia, Baltimore, and New York City so residents can experience cultural and recreational attractions that large urban areas can offer.
